About Our Chapter

The Illinois Kappa chapter of Pi Beta Phi was colonized in April of 2013. Since then, we have more than doubled in size and continue to thrive at the University of Chicago. This year, we are proud to have been named as a Top 10 chapter in donations to the Pi Beta Phi Foundation.

In the 2017-2018 year, our two philanthropy events, Arrowfest and Pi in the Face, have raised over $20,000 for the Pi Beta Phi Foundation's Read > Lead > Achieve Initiatives and schools in our local area. Our members take the Pi Beta Phi value of philanthropic service to others to heart, and are involved in our community through tutoring children at a local elementary school using Pi Phi's Champions are Readers program in addition to volunteering with numerous other campus organizations.

CHAPTER TRADITIONS

The special traditions and events our chapter has developed over time bring us closer to each other and to the members of IL Kappa that came before us. Two of our favorite traditions include Big / Little reveal and our quarterly finals week Cookie Shine in the Regenstein Library. This year we also hosted a Faculty Appreciation Tea and held our first Pink Party, a traditional Pi Phi pre-initiation event, and we hope these become part of our chapter for years to come.
